Born in Cottonwood Arizona Concepcion R Valenzuela known to those who loved her as “Concha”, showed the world what she was made of early in her life. Having to leave school in the sixth grade to help support her brothers and sisters. She was a woman ahead of her time. Family was everything to her, but she could be tough when it was needed. Mama was strong, intelligent; she had perseverance and amazing insight. She was the matriarch of her family. Concha as she was known, was a woman of many talents. She was a great cook; seamstress and she owned and managed her own business. Just before her passing in 1987, she formed Hi-Tone Five Corp. for licensing the rights to her son Ritchie. The corporate logo bears a conch shell with 5 musical notes surounding it. The notes represent her 5 children and the
music that forever changes their lives.
Her strength and dignity are
beautifully portrayed by
Roseana DeSoto who
played her in La Bamba.
She saw her dream realized,
her son Ritchie had finally
received the tribute that
was due him. Her strength,
talent and spirit will live on in
her children. She is missed.
