American Bandstand: A Kinescope For February 03, 1959?

Postby stingo1 » Thu Feb 26, 2009 12:01 am

Hi Everyone,

Much has been made of the "missing" kinescope of Ritchie's two appearances on American Bandstand. Yes, I find it hard to believe too that this footage is no loger in existence (along with the Buddy Holly footage) when every other little thing from Dick's show has apparently survived the years...
That's a subject for another time, however. Turning away from that briefly, I'm quite curious to know if the complete footage of the February 03rd American Bandstand episode is still out there. In all of my years of studying Holly, Valens, and J.P. I don't believe I've ever heard anything of this brought up. It would certainly be fascinating to view what must have been a very sad day in the history of American Bandstand. Is anyone privy to any information regarding the current status of this show?
